LIFE IN REDNITZHEMBACH

THE COMMUNITY

Rednitzhembach was first mentioned in a document in 1370 under the name Retzenhennbach. Today, the municipality, which consists of the districts of Rednitzhembach-Altort, Walpersdorf, Untermainbach, Plöckendorf, Igelsdorf and Weihersmühle as well as Oberfichtenmühle and Unterfichtenmühle, is a modern settlement on the edge of the Nuremberg - Fürth - Erlangen - Schwabach urban axis.

The municipality has around 7,000 inhabitants and is on the southern edge of the conurbation with excellent local and long-distance transport links. Despite its proximity to the city, it has retained its own community life, which is confirmed by its numerous clubs and activities. Rednitzhembach has gained a reputation far beyond its borders thanks to clever community management and a high level of innovation.

LEISURE & PLEASURE

The leisure and entertainment options in Rednitzhembach are excellent thanks to its good location and infrastructure. Recreational opportunities are available right on the doorstep. An extensive and varied natural landscape, miniature golf course, boat trip, art trail and much more offer a direct change from everyday life.

In addition, the Franconian Lake District to the south, which is the venue for the world-famous Challenge Roth long-distance triathlon once a year, is just a short distance away, as are all the cultural attractions of the city of Nuremberg to the north of Rednitzhembach. Numerous cultural events also take place in the municipality throughout the year.

ART & CULTURE

Despite its close proximity to Nuremberg, the cultural programme in Rednitzhembach is diverse and lively. Theatre events, music concerts, exhibitions and much more take place throughout the year. The art trail, which now features over 50 works of art and runs around and through the town, has become famous beyond the town's borders.

The cinema museum and the Kuhr Mill Museum are also cultural attractions. Cultural life is complemented by numerous events ranging from the public fair to the wine festival and the Christmas market.

THE METROPOLITAN REGION

According to the Wikipedia entry, the Nuremberg metropolitan region comprises almost 3.6 million inhabitants on an area of 21,800 square kilometres. With a gross domestic product of 134 billion euros and around 1.9 million people in employment, it is one of the strongest economic regions in Germany.

23 administrative districts and 11 independent cities have been working together in partnership since 2005 on the dynamic ‘Metropolitan Region’ project. This offers the inhabitants of this region great diversity in terms of culture, nature and sport, as well as excellent European transport links.

SCHOOL & EDUCATION

There is a primary and secondary school in Rednitzhembach. All secondary schools can be easily reached from Rednitzhembach by public transport (S-Bahn and bus). Just a few kilometres away in Schwabach, for example, there are all types of schools, from special needs schools, secondary schools, business schools and grammar schools to vocational and technical colleges.

The nearby district town of Roth also has a large number of secondary schools. There is also a music school in our municipality.

TRANSPORT & MOBILITY

The municipality of Rednitzhembach has excellent connections to the metropolitan region's road and rail network, yet is in a quiet location. From Rednitzhembach, you have direct access to the Bundesstraße 2, which runs from Nuremberg via Augsburg to the Alps and is motorway-like in many places. In just a few minutes you can also reach the slip road to the A6 autobahn, which leads to Heilbronn in the west and Prague in the east.

There is an S-Bahn station directly in the village, which is located on the Nuremberg-Munich railway line and takes you to Nuremberg main station in 20 minutes. With these numerous options, you are also well connected to the airport in Nuremberg. The cycle path network is also well maintained for leisure and local recreation and is constantly being expanded.
